SBD Motorsport have been working with the Vauxhall XE engine since the 90s and in conjunction with Omega they've developed a new slipper piston for the 2-litre XE engine. Based on their original design, the compression's been increased and the piston's been changed to a two ring design to reduce friction. Prototypes were supplied to several well known engine builders who reported up to 10bhp increase just from changing to the new piston. Available in 87.00mm & 88.00mm the pistons must be used with SBD's long conrod, which is available for either standard width crankshaft journals or reduced width big-ends for use on their high spec steel crank.
