Remove the
complete front pulley arrangement
Remove the complete front cover assembly
Remove the sump
Remove the oil pick up assembly
Remove the oil pump drive chain
Remove the oil pump
Clean all
surfaces
Re-install all the front cover/pulley assembly
Fit the new steel crank pulley to the correct torque
Fit new sump (use a gasket compound for sealing) loosely at first so that
total alignment can be achieved between sump, block and front cover.
Fit oil pump
to block mounting bracket (you can use locktite 243 on all the bolts)
Loosely fit the pump so as to attain the correct sump to pump hose length
and put in place the drive belt.
Fit pump properly now with the hoses, clips and belt in place
Check belt tension*
Install the
oil into engine plate using 'O' rings supplied.
Then install
the oil tank, hoses as per drawing
Please, if unsure call your supplier and seek further advice.
*Reference
belt tension: this must be set correctly otherwise you will have problems
with extra loadings on the oil pump, premature belt ware/failure.
You must be able to move the belt on the oil pump pulley back and forth
with some pressure but not lift off the teeth, then check that you can
turn the belt through 90 degrees easily. Re-check once engine has been
warmed up, you may have to adjust again.
Reference
starting the engine.
Prime your whole pressure line from tank to pump to engine through the
remote filter head (if fitted) then fill oil tank to correct level (again
seek advice).
Make sure the PRV adjuster is at least 4 to 5 turns onto the PRV spring
Plugs out, crank engine over until oil pressure is shown on your gauge
you need approx 30 to 40 psi to start engine on.
Keep a careful eye on the level of oil in the tank, you will need to top
up before start up.
Start engine then run for a few seconds, switch off, check oil level top
up if necessary, then fire back up again.
You will need - as the oil warms - to adjust the PRV screw to the correct
oil pressure that you require as the pressure will fall as the oil gets
hot.
The engine should be run for enough time so as to get hot.
Switch off, re-check belt tension and oil level and for leaks.
