Group
N kits have been designed for use in rallying & racing cars where they
are to be competed in showroom or near factory production classes. The
biggest improvement these kits give apart from the extra BHP is the rapid
throttle response.
This is made possible by the use of throttle angle control which is instantaneous
(as opposed to the standard airflow meter which is very slow & no matter
what you do to your standard ECU it cannot overcome) & the speed that
MBE ECU works at, which is up to 10 times faster thean the standard item.
They can be used to upgrade road cars, but please note that although they
are very smooth to drive, they don't have all the functions of a road
ECU e.g. they cannot drive the idle control valves, which means starting
especially from cold you may have to hold the throttle to maintain idle
for a minute or two.

The exhaust
manifold must remain standard for Group N use, but on the 1.6L XE engine,
which has a separate down pipe fitted. The down pipe could be improved
on, as it is not part of the manifold as such. The system behind this
must be replaced with a large free flow system (not less than 2 ¼"
diameter) to achieve the kit's full potential. Due to the large variations
in ECU and wiring harness configuration on the standard car, we now only
recommend a complete replacement of the original wiring harness with one
of our off the shelf versions. Also due to the variations in range of
the standard throttle potentiometer you either by the mapping software
in order to recalibrate the ECU to match or your car is taken to one of
our authorised dealers to have it properly set up. Please call if you

Note Please state on ordering whether your car has a Lambda sensor fitted.
