Adaptor
plates & input shafts for Hewland Gearboxes
The adaptor plates we have made are for the Hewland MK9 gearbox. They are 2" thick & can be mounted in one of 2 ways, either in the way used in racing cars with the differential above the input shaft (giving minimal ground clearance so engine can be mounted as low as possible), Or the other way up with the differential below the input shaft (to give maximum ground clearance, suitable for forest rally & off road). We also supply 2 basic types of input shafts. The road type & a heavy duty type made of a higher spec of material & heat-treated. The road spec is only recommended for very light use & with the power of the 2.0L 16v XE engine we would advise only the use of the heavy-duty type. We also recommend the use of the 1" x 23 spline Ford pattern due to its strength & that we produce more clutch plates with this spline type making it easier to replace the clutch plates. Because of the variety of options and the fact they made to order, there is usually a 2 to 4 week wait once you have ordered you have ordered & if you do require a special spline type this will increase the delivery time still further & there is an extra cost of approximately £20.00.

Spigot
bearing for Input shaft
The spigot bearing fits into the end of most of the Vauxhall/Open range of cranks & has an internal diameter of 15mm which will suit the Ford range of gearboxes, the Manta 1.8 Getrac box & the Vauxhall/Opel range of gearboxes when fitted with most Quaife gear kits. If this does not suit your input shaft you can make one out of phosphor bronze (but this is not that cheap due to the cost of the material). CLT-SB-1 Spigot bearing 15mm Astra type
