Electronic Management systems (ECU's)

All our MBE Ecu's come complete with a suitable program & are ready to run. In addition they are capable of being adjusted by the user via a computer as they all use what is called an E squared chop to store the maps & configuration data to control your engine. These can be modified in seconds, making them very user friendly. All ECUs are fully testing during manufacture.

This ECU is designed for ignition only control. It can run distributor or distributorless engines, its possible inputs are crank speed, throttle angle. It can be used with ignition against speed of if a throttle position sensor is fitted to the carburettors it can be programmed to change the ignition according to the open of the butterflies.

MBE970MBE 970 ECU
The 970 range of ECU's are similar to the 956 ECU's but have far more inputs & outputs, they can run 4 cylinders grouped or sequentially, 4 cylinders grouped with phase able upper & lower injectors, it can run V6 & V8 engine & turbo engines. It is possible to control the radiator fan, control the alternator, and launch control, power shift, traction control (on a sequential gearbox), gear change light & many more. The inputs are as the 956E with the addition of barometric pressure, boost pressure to name a few. The 970 can be set up in may different ways control lots of extra accessories. The important things that should be taken into consideration when choosing the extras you may wish to control is that the more you add this will increase complexity of the loom & its cost also setting up time take longer also increasing cost. When purchasing second hand ECUs, please note the following;

If the ECU is still a current issue i.e. advertised on our web site, it can be reprogrammed, costs from £85 per unit.

If the ECU is an older model, it is recommended that the ECU be only used for the type of engine it is already programmed for. If you require an older model reprogrammed, costs are from £125 per unit dependant on the age of the ECU. It can cost more for the unit to be reprogrammed than the purchase of new ECU. In addition, if the unit breaks, the older units (e.g. 912-900) are irreparable.
