We have produced this Duratec piston for use with new Duratec engines
as this allows you to use the original rings supplied. This means
you can simply slip out each piston in turn & fit the rings
to the new piston, so therefore full running-in will not be required,
just gentle bedding in. Available 87.50mm Bore. Set of 4. Also available
singly.
PIST-OM-DUR-87.50RXS
We also supply the RX version which comes complete with rings for
those people who are using a secondhand engine. The pistons will
come with the rings unfitted as the rings must be gapped when fitting.

PIST-OM-DUR-88.00XS
The 88.00 version is designed for those who have a secondhand engine
that shows some bore wear. We would normally recommend the engine
is replaced if any substantial bore wear has occured due to the
thickness of the cast in liners & would only recommend the use
of an overbored engine for either road use or engines of a mild
state of tune. The pistons will come with the rings unfitted as
the rings must be gapped when fitting. Set of 4. Also available
singly.

| 'SBD
has released some goodies for the latest must-have engine, the Duratec.
They can now supply high-quality intruder pistons for said engine,
which will push the compression ratio right up but can also be machined
down to suit your application. Their bore is 87.50mm, they were designed
by SBD itself & are produced by Omega to suit both the 2.0 &
2.3 engines. Also pictured is a steel rod which SBD can supply for
either the 2.0 or 2.3 engine. The 2.0 rod weighs around 455g &
has a centre length of approximately 146mm, the 2.3 weighs around
480g and is around 155mm long. The combined piston & rod assembly
is around 90g lighter than the standard setup & so will unleash
valuable ponies from that Mondeo engine' |

ROD-FD-2.0LDUR-146S
Duratec 2.0L steel rod set. We have designed this rod to replace
the standard fragile item, it has a bronze small end bush, which
replaces the press-fit version. Ideal for use with our piston. These
rods have been tested extensively by ourselves to over 9000rpm on
standard crankshaft & over 9500rpm on a steel crankshaft. So
beware of cheap imitations!

| 'There's
a lot of potential wrapped up inside Ford's Duratec HE twin cam. Even
in standard form it can make decent power once freed from the restrictive
Mondeo management system, but with uprated internals the all-alloy
lump can cope with astonishingly high revs and serious bhp. SBD Motorsport
have just released lightweight piston and steel rod sets suitable
for 2.0 & 2.3-litre engines, shaving 90g off each piston &
rod assembly. The pistons are an 87.50mm bore, can be machined to
fine-tune compression ratio adn accept standard Ford rings. Roads
are available in 146mm (2-litre) & 155mm (2.3-litre) lengths' |

ROD-FD-2.0DUR-152
The
new 152 rod has been designed specifically to go with our new 2-litre
Duratec slipper piston, it is 6mm longer which has helped to reduce
the rod angle which in turn helps to increase the torque. On our
high spec engine we saw an increase of 6lbft torque & just reaching
200lbft torque. Due to the smaller pin size on the piston, this
has reduced the weight of the small end of the rod which means the
rod is actually 12g lighter than our normal Duratec rods. We have
also upped the rod bolts to the ARP625+ high spec material to cope
with the extra performance.

PIST-OM-DUR-87-50SLS
We
have designed a 2 ring slipper piston for the 2-litre Duratec with
the help of Omega & the latest improvements in design that they
have gained through GP bike development, we have produced a new
forging specifically for this piston. It is of a much stiffer construction,
uses a smaller lighter pin at 18mm, we have also moved the pin closer
to the crown of the piston which helps to reduce piston rock which
also helps to reduce friction. It is ultra-lightweight & low
friction; in initial tests we saw a 7bhp increase in our high spec
engine simply by changing the pistons along with new matching rods.

PIST-OM-DUR-87-50SLBS
We
have also developed a billet version of the new slipper piston design
for the Duratec, that incorporates all the latest technology available
into a billet piston. These detailed improvements, which are normally
too expensive to incorporate into the forged piston become easier
to produce in a billet version. This piston is machined from solid
on a special machine that Omega use to manufacture all their GP
motorbike & high end pistons. The major improvement is the bridge
on either side of the gudgeon pin, this allows the piston to be
made even stiffer & although this appears to be a very small
change does allow the piston strength & longevity.
