Duratec 304bhp 195lbft graphThroughout 2007, we have been developing the 2.0L Duratec improving the oil system & cam chain control, which were then extensively tested. We decided to take the development further by increasing the power output, this was done by taking a new cylinder head design & carrying out extensive CNC work & flow bench tests with one of our trade partners. This gave us an increase in flow over the original design of 10%, in order to get an exact comparison we removed the head from our existing engine & simply fitted the new head keeping all other compnents the same. We then tested on the same rolling road, Track'n'Road in Essex, as the original tests were carried out & ran the engine in two configurations of 4 injectors & 8 injectors and gained 20bhp on both tests now achieving 294bhp/189lbft & 304bhp/195lbft respectively. We are extremely pleased with the results especially considering the fact we are not using exotic componets to achieve this performance & we expect further development over the next season to improve the output further. It includes the following parts; steel crank, steel rods & Omega high compression pistons, a dry sump system, high specification camshafts and an upper & lower injection system. The kit itself also contains the necessary components to achieve this horsepower with a few extra safety features as standard e.g. up-rated flywheel bolts, main cap studs, head studs & up-rated bearings. A new exhaust manifold design has been made for the Westfield & the Escort.MBE970 ECU

Also it will use the MBE 970 ECU, along with a full wiring harness, which is capable of barometric sensing, alternator sensing (tells the alternator not to charge except when the throttle is closed - reducing the load on the engine when accelerating), direct firing coils (each spark plug had its own coil), launch control, traction control, 8 injectors, lambda control & radiator fan control.
