This car won the F2 BRC in 1992 under the hands of David Llewellin for the Vauxhall Dealer Sport team hence the reg. K20 VDS. After a lot of handling problems at the start of the year, which arose from the conversion from forest spec to tarmac spec, it finally got sorted and started to show fantastic pace. After stage 1 in the Stonethowers Rally (Irish National Championship) was lying fifth O/A behind some big names like Austin Mchale in his new WRC Corolla and Hugh-Martin Doherty in his Prodrive Subaru with another Subaru and Celica ahead of them, a full 43 sec's quicker than the next F2 Car over 8 miles of dry tarmac. They went on to finish 8 O/A in this rally, and win F2 by over 10 mins. The next event was the Manx International Rally which they contested for the Toshiba Tarmac Championship. They were 14 O/A after 15 stages and on course to win the Toshiba F2 part of the rally when they were forced to retire with electrical problems. Next year they plan a full assault on the Toshiba Tarmac F2 Championship, with the help of SBD Motorsport and their sponsors. |
