This first upgrade is a natural progression from the basic kit. It has been designed to give a nice all round improvement in performance without becoming unsuitable for road use or difficult to be fitted & set up. The MBE Ecu comes programmed & ready to use.

The power increase is obtained by a change of cams and verniers, but still retaining the hydraulic tappet structure, which is so reliable. You will need to replace your pistons with Omega pistons which already have deeper valve pockets, however you will need to replace the rods as well.

Due to the increase in lobe height on some occasions, it may be necessary to modifiy the head casting slightly to allow the lobes to clear. Also the new valve springs are of a slightly larger diameter and the head-casting diamenter will need to be increased at the base of the spring.

It is ideal for Caterham 7s that are either already running our basic kit or wish to convert their HPE without major alteration to the standard layout of the car (please ring for more details).
