We brought our Duratec display engine, which showed our latest taper throttle kit producing 294bhp/189lbft & 304bhp/195lbft on 4 & 8 injectors respectively.

Also on display was the new exhaust manifold specifically designed to suit the Duratec installation in an Escort.

Fresh from the success of building a 304bhp 2-litre Duratec (see February issue) SBD was showing off its new four-into-one exhaust manifold for rwd Escorts running Duratec power. Developed on Matt Downer's sprint-spec MkII that we featured way back when the mag first started, it will set you back around £600.

'SBD Motorsport (020 8391 0121,
www.sbdev.co.uk) has really got its
teeth into the 2-litre Duratec HE motor
and was displaying its 270 bhp kit.
For £6375, you’ll get cams and
verniers, pistons, rods, the crank
modified to put a keyway in, head and
main stud kits, uprated flywheel bolts,
new uprated bearings, valve springs, caps and platforms, CNC-machined high-flow head, taper throttle body kit, ready-mapped ECU and harness, dry sump kit — all you need to do is put it all together. Although aimed at the kit car boys, this would be one hell of a motor dropped into a Focus or fwd Escort'

Total Vauxhall, March 2003 issue wrote

"SBD was on hand to show some of its renowned tuning kit for the now legendary C20XE engine. There must have been a billon hours of work in engineering these 'exploded ' engines. Fab. Steve Broughton (the SB in the SB Developments) was on hand to tell us about his latest goodies. There was just too much to list, but we'll be back with him soon."
